At Home Barre Workout
Ballet exercise is a great way of getting into shape. It tones and tightens the muscles, provides aerobic activity and makes you feel beautiful! It’s the original “barre workout” and is the basis for most of the at-home barre workouts available online – after all, the first part of a ballet class is the barre!
Below you will find a workout for beginners that you can do in the comfort of your own home. It’s easy to do and will help you no matter what level you’re at with ballet.
Having done ballet as a teenager I’m always on the lookout for what I call a “pure ballet” exercise DVD/video. A lot of workouts claim to be ballet. Many are called “ballet barre” but they’re actually derivatives. So when I came across Alessia, The Lazy Dancer on YouTube I was very happy!
A Ballet Exercise Workout
The Lazy Dancer Studio is founded by Alessia, a professional ballerina originally from Italy. Her videos are great — they don’t contain lots of talking and explanations between the exercises, you just follow along. And it’s real ballet! And she’s a delight to watch!
There are videos for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced.
Having done some of these workouts I would highly recommend them if you want to get fit or if you just want to feel like a ballerina for 20 minutes!
Here is one of the at-home workouts which is good for beginners or even advanced. Enjoy!
Beginner Ballet Course
If you enjoyed that class you might be interested in a course specifically for the beginner or those returning to ballet after an absence of many years.
Did you do ballet when you were younger and gave it up? Well, this is the perfect course for you to get you back into it!
Have you always wanted to try ballet but didn’t know where to start? Well, this is the perfect course for you!
It doesn’t matter what type of body you have, how out of shape you are, or how old you are, it’s not too late to start!
These workouts are perfect if you’ve never done ballet before or if you did it before and want to bring it back into your life.
As Alessia says:
- Dance first, think later. Technique gets better over time if you don’t “box” yourself in.
- Dance with a method that helps you discover the potential of your body so you can remove insecurities and limitations you THINK you have.
- Dance to get motivated every day, instead of motivating yourself to dance.
